Planning a quick trip to Jaipur? Our comprehensive one-day itinerary covers the best places to visit in Jaipur, hidden gems, and tips for making the most of your 24 hours in the Pink City.
We planned a 5-day road trip to Rajasthan from Delhi, with Jaipur as our first stop. Since we had only one day there, we created the perfect 1-day itinerary to make the most of our time.
We started from Delhi at 7 AM, and after driving 300 kms for about 5 hours, we reached Jaipur. We checked into our hotel early and began our day. Our first stop was, of course, the Hawa Mahal.
Hawa Mahal
As we were short on time, we decided not to enter the fort but instead enjoy the architecture and vibe from the rooftop cafés opposite Hawa Mahal. Sitting across the road lets you escape the hustle and bustle, while still admiring the beauty from a distance. If you have more time, you can do both.
We visited Tattoo Café and Lounge and loved the food, the views, and the overall vibe. After brunch and plenty of photos, our next stop was Panna Meena ka Kund.

Panna Meena ka Kund
This stepwell is about 1.5 km away from Amber Fort. If you’re visiting the fort, you can easily combine the two. We skipped the fort but came here for this architectural marvel.
The kund was built to store rainwater during the dry season. The intricate staircase design leading down to the water is fascinating. Earlier, visitors were allowed to climb down, but that’s not permitted anymore. We did read somewhere that if you manage to convince the guard early morning, he might let you down for photos.
Since we had some time before heading to Nahargarh Fort for sunset, we decided to explore a bit more. Checking the map, we found a viewpoint nearby.

We set Kalika Mata Mandir as the destination, parked the car, and walked a little to reach the viewpoint. To our surprise, we had the place completely to ourselves. It was peaceful and serene, the kind of spot we love since it’s away from crowds. You can skip it if you like, but for us, it was the perfect break before moving on.

Nahargarh Fort
Nahargarh Fort is the highest point in Jaipur, offering stunning sunset views over the city. The drive itself is beautiful, with multiple viewpoints along the way, including one that overlooks Jal Mahal from above.

Once at the fort, we went to Padao Café. The food was average, but the views were unbeatable. We stayed until sunset, soaking in the atmosphere. On our way back, we stopped again to watch Jal Mahal and Jaipur light up from a distance—it felt peaceful and magical, even more so than the sunset itself.

Some Observations about Jaipur
- People drive quite rashly here, and we didn’t enjoy the traffic much.
- Tour guides were unusually aggressive—literally throwing themselves in front of our car to offer their services. We’ve met persistent guides at tourist places before, but this was a first. Honestly, it felt more funny than annoying.
Wrapping Up
And that was our 1-day itinerary in Jaipur! There are definitely other itineraries with more spots packed in, but we prefer traveling at our own pace. We love exploring, yet we always leave something for the next visit.
